Open source

The world shares its best tools. hafbot runs them for you.

hafbot is the first personal assistant we know of that runs open-source software for you, straight from your phone. No installing, no servers, no code.

What is open source?

Open source is software whose code is shared openly, so anyone can use it, study it and make it better.

Think of a recipe that a chef publishes for everyone. You can cook it at home, change it to your taste and share your version. Open-source software works the same way: the people who make it share how it works, and thousands of others help improve it.

Built by people everywhere, shared with everyone

For decades, engineers, universities, companies and volunteers around the world have built programs and systems and shared them for free. Much of the internet you use every day already runs on them.

Today there are hundreds of thousands of open-source programs and AI models: tools for documents, photos, research, numbers, design and much more. Most people never use them, because they need a computer set up the right way, a server and some technical skill.

How hafbot makes them yours

  1. 1You ask from the appSay what you need in Arabic or English, by text or voice, on iPhone or Android.
  2. 2hafbot picks the right toolIt finds an open-source program that does the job and sets it up on your own private computer.
  3. 3It does the work, you watchYou can watch the computer work live, and take control at any moment.
  4. 4You get the resultThe file, picture or answer comes back to your phone. Nothing goes out without your OK.

It keeps growing, every day

People publish new open-source tools every day. Each one becomes something you can use through hafbot, without waiting for us to build it. An endless loop: every new open-source tool becomes something you can use.

What it means for your everyday work

Safe by design

To be clear: hafbot itself is not open source. We host open-source software for you, and we credit and respect the licences of the people who made it.

Questions people ask

Is it safe?

Yes. The software runs on your own private computer, walled off from other people, and hafbot asks your OK before anything is sent, posted or paid. You can watch it work and stop it at any time.

Is it free?

The open-source software itself is free. Running it for you on your private computer is part of your hafbot package, so there is nothing extra to buy for the tools.

Who made these programs?

Engineers, universities, companies and volunteers around the world, who chose to share their work openly. hafbot did not make them; we run them for you and respect their licences.

Do I need to be technical?

No. You never install anything, rent a server or write code. You say what you need in the app and hafbot does the rest.
